MY VILLAGERS ARE STARVING

Okay I love the game and is very far ahead but I let my friend borrow my phone and suddenly there is a Minutes until new crops. Thing when ever I click the farm. I have 27 people and they eat a lot. They are all starving and I am really worried. I tried waiting for the timer but once it was finished I turned off the game after making sure they were farming. Next time I turned the game back on it had even more time left then before. Im absolutely in love with this game but. Why are u starving my villagers? I am giving a bad review because I care about the game. But you are forcing me to fail in it.
